ADHD Embrace is a small and impactful community charity supporting children and young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), along with their families and the professionals who work with them. For over 20 years, we have provided trusted information, practical support and advocacy, building long-standing relationships within our community.

The Role

The Fundraiser will be the lead on fundraising activities and will be responsible for raising funds to meet the budgeted income targets from Trusts and Corporates in order to support the service provision of the charity. The role will be focused on grant bid writing and exploration and development of other partnerships including corporate partnerships and award nominations . They will also coordinate impact reporting to funders. They will work closely with colleagues on the messaging and approaches made in donor campaigns, challenge event fundraising and fundraising from local schools.

This is a key role in a small charity and combines long term planning with hands-on tasks. The Fundraiser will work closely with colleagues and volunteers. The postholder will report to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities

1. Grants

Responsible for seeking funding from Trusts, endowments and other funders and coordinating impact reporting and will involve the following:

  • Researching and creating a pipeline for target grant applications and being proactive in identifying grant opportunities.
  • Agree with Chair and Executive Director annual approach to grants to be targeted i.e. core funding vs specific projects.
  • Prepare draft applications working closely with Executive Director to include relevant case studies and quotes, service statistics, etc.
  • Coordinate review and sign off process and make submissions within the required deadlines of funders.
  • Maintain databases on grant applications and ensure all applications and related working papers are filed on the central filing system.
  • Ensure that monitoring and evaluation forms are completed on a timely basis.

2. Corporates and other partnerships

Responsible for developing relationships with corporates and other partners including local fairs and community societies with a view to obtaining funding and will involve the following:

  • Develop and maintain a plan to identify corporates and other parties to partner with in sponsorship arrangements, seeking donations, offering reciprocal services to support ADHD and neurodiversity in their business or becoming a corporate’s selected charity to receive organisational support.
  • Develop and maintain a plan to identify other parties to partner such as local fairs and community societies to receive organisational support.
  • Work closely with colleagues on mapping out schools to be approached by them for selection of charity of the year, consider fundraising opportunities around ADHD Awareness Month in October or other opportunities including around schools’ Christmas or Summer Fairs.

3. Awards

Responsible for key awards to help heighten ADHD Embrace’s profile through the recognition of its work and impact achieved and will involve the following:

  • Research and identify key awards, both locally and nationally that we should target for consideration and establish how best to be nominated.
  • In cases of self-nomination prepare draft and coordinate through review and approval process and ensure timely submission.

4. Coordination and reporting

  • Coordinate with colleagues to ensure messaging in fundraising and awards activities aligns with all communications and marketing messaging and also our services provided to our community and our wider advocacy.
  • Prepare Quarterly Fundraising Report coordinating input on grants, corporates, schools and other donations and awards.

Person Specification

Experience (essential)

  • +3 years of proven successful experience in fundraising with ideally not for profits or been in a marketing role involved in bid writing.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop diverse relationships.

Experience (desirable)

  • Experience in writing and delivering persuasive copy for supporters.
  • Full understanding of fundraising guidelines and the code of fundraising practice.

Skills and Knowledge (essential)

  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent written and oral English language communication skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Confidence using data, feedback and insights to inform decisions and improve services.

    Further details

    Salary: Pro rata of full time equivalent £32,000 – £38,000 per annum

    Hours: 24 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend work to support events. This role could potentially be worked over three or four days. We are open to considering applicants preferences.

    Benefits:

    • Employer pension contribution: 3% of salary
    • Holiday entitlement: 30 days per year, including bank holidays (pro rata)

    Location: Hybrid. The team works together in a shared office on Mondays. In-person events take place in and around Richmond, Kingston and the surround areas. Outside of these commitments, the role can be carried out remotely. Local candidates are preferred.
