A teacher seminar to explore resources and support available for schools when working with a child or young person facing severe difficulty attending school due to emotional distress or anxiety
The session will explore:
- The ERSA Toolkit and other resources: Provide practical steps, checklists, and graduated response guides to help teachers understand the function of the absence.
- The use of action and support planning: Explore personalised timetables and provision plans to foster a sense of belonging and maintain a connection with school making pupils feel safe.
- The wider multi-agency network: Outline available multi-agency support and approaches available, as well as some alternative provisions that may support engagement with peers and help young people to reengage.
About the speaker
About the EISS Advisory Team:
The Education Inclusion Support Service (EISS) offers consultancy on all aspects of inclusion, including behaviour management approaches, systems and policies. The service supports schools in developing sustainable inclusion strategies and practices, and offers advice and guidance about children with SEN, including those with challenging behaviour and social and emotional difficulties that impact behaviour for learning. The advisory team works both remotely and onsite in schools, providing advice, guidance, and multi-agency support.
