Welcome to Dr Jo Steer, ADHD Embrace’s latest ambassador.

We have appointed our latest Ambassador for ADHD Embrace, Dr Jo Steer, who is a renowned ADHD author and a key member of local services.

Jo says, “I am delighted to be an Ambassador for ADHD Embrace having worked collaboratively with them for many years through co-delivering training and working in partnership in order to support of children with ADHD and their families.” 

Dr Jo Steer is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience working with children, young people and their families with neurodivergence, with a particular interest in ADHD.  She works locally in Kingston and Richmond as the Associate Director for the Emotional Health Service at Achieving for Children.  She also has her own well established private practice in Surrey.

Jo has authored a range of books focused on ADHD “My Unique ADHD World” written for primary aged children, “Understanding ADHD in Girls & Women” which she edited and wrote with a number of local colleagues and “Helping Kids & Teens with ADHD in School; A Workbook”.  Her next book “Mastering Life with ADHD” is written for teens and young adults and is due for publication in September 2026.

Jo is passionate about providing children, families, professionals and the public with good quality information on ADHD.  Jo delivers training locally and nationally on ADHD and has appeared on Radio 4 and many podcasts.  Due to Jo’s specialism in ADHD in girls and women she has recently been involved in reviewing one of the international frameworks for ADHD assessment with this population to hopefully improve the experience of assessment and diagnosis.
